Asthma in kids: Symptoms and Treatment
Symptoms of Asthma:
- Shortness of Breath
- Coughing- Coughing from Asthma is often more in the night and early morning
- Wheezing- Wheezing is a whistling sound that occurs when you breathe
- Tightness in the chest while running or doing exercise
- Weakness or tiredness
When should you worry?
Many things trigger Asthma symptoms like it can be caused by exposure to allergens from dust, animal fur, cockroaches, mold, and pollen from trees, grasses, and flowers. Asthma can be life threatening for some children and may even require intervention.
Why is Asthma increasing in Children?
According to research and reports, it does seem that these days, people are being diagnosed with Asthma than ever before and that Asthma is becoming a very serious disease. Studies have shown that this disease is present in more than 20-40% of school children. Asthma is a hereditary disease and in families, where there is a history of nasal, skin or respiratory allergies, the chances of these allergies developing in children are more, but these allergies can also occur in children where there is no such history of such problems. Due to lack of knowledge and understanding about asthma, parents may deny the existence of this disease.
However, it is important to educate people that Asthma is not infectious i.e. it cannot be passed from one person to another. Although, Asthma is an allergic disease that is controlled and can be cured if it is treated properly at 7-8 years of age.
Treatment of Asthma:
